Application of waste derived biochar technology in sustainable agriculture and climate change mitigation

Under RUSA Scheme, Govt. of India

Biochar is a stable carbon-rich material produced through the carbonization of biomass. It can be used for soil enhancement and carbon-negative applications. This project explores the potential of biochar derived from organic agro-waste as a value-added soil amendment for climate change mitigation and sustainable agriculture. The application of biochar to soil can provide several benefits, including improved soil fertility, enhanced crop productivity, increased soil carbon sequestration, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
